Moving stimuli were presented in a continuous sequence, without interstimulus interval. Each stimulus presentation lasted 80 to 250 msec. The geometrical disposition of the stimuli is shown in the figure. In this case, stimuli were located at 36 locations in a 6 by 6 grid. At each location the stimulus could move in 8 directions, for a total of 288 conditions. Speed ranged from 50 to 80 deg/sec.
